Sophomore Blake Maczka competed at the 2013 5A State Championships in the Lee & Jamail Texas Swim Center on the campus of the University of Texas in Austin.
In the preliminary race on Friday, Blake swam the 500 Free in 4 minutes, 30.89 seconds, a drop of over 4 seconds from his winning swim at Regionals. In the final race on Saturday, Blake improved on his prelim time by .39 seconds and finished in 5th place.
Over the course of the season, Blake swam many races in a variety of events, almost always with a 1st place finish. Additionally, he was a major contributor in many relays. His first 500 Free race of the season was during the Highland Park meet on 10/23 where he swam a 4:56.81. By the time he swam at State, Blake would drop 26.31 seconds from the Highland Park time.
